Hello all,
It’s a pleasure and honor to introduce myself as the new owner of Great Smiles. My name is Rika Prodhan-Ashraf and I’ve been a general dentist for eights years now. I’ve been working as a dentist in El Dorado Hills and am thrilled to have my own office in this community now.
I know changing dentists is a big deal, but if you afford me an opportunity to meet and discuss your requests and needs, I think we can establish a partnership of trust and confidence. Before we meet in person, I would like to share a little about myself so that you may get to know me better:
I absolutely love what I do and I’m grateful to find joy and meaning in this dental career. The mouth and teeth are some of the most important places within the human body and are so important to your overall health. Helping folks immediately be relieved of pain, or transforming someone’s life by giving them a beautiful smile, and/or helping someone overcome their medical conditions by treating their underlying issues like obstructive sleep apnea, has been a remarkably impactful on both the patients and my career.
I started this career with a dental degree (Doctorate of Dental Surgery; class of 2015) from Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine in New York, graduating with honors in clinical dentistry. I then did a General Practice Residency at Columbia University Harlem Hospital.
Being a forever student, I continued to take classes and have also earned a Fellowship and Mastership with the Academy of General Dentistry, a distinction which is only awarded to 2% of general dentists in North America.
I am a firm believer that the mouth is connected with overall health and well-being. Therefore all your dental care will be done with consideration of your full medical profile, dietary habits, any sleep issues, psychological state, and body and mouth inflammation. Furthermore, the office will see people of all ages- from kids to geriatric care. This will be a family-oriented space.
I will offer a wide array of procedures, from fillings, crowns, implants, extractions, root canals, surgical and non-surgical ‘gum disease’ treatment, Aligner therapy (like Invisalign), cosmetic dentistry (veneers, bonding, whitening), emergency/same-day care, TMJ pain, evaluation for sleep apnea and possible treatment, and much more. I will help you as much as I can or refer you to a trusted specialist.
I am also passionate about organic and more natural ways of dentistry. I look forward to offering dental ozone therapy (a great antimicrobial/antibacterial adjunctive therapy), platelet rich fibrin (PRF), some herbal mouthwashes and disinfectants, remineralizing toothpaste, metal-free fillings, and much more. If any of this interests you, please come and talk to me about it. I love discussing these topics with patients.
A little about my family: I live with my husband and two sons. My husband is an Oncology Pharmacist at Kaiser Permanente. We love spending as much time as possible with our two young inquisitive toddler boys. They too are a part of this community and love spending their time here.
